MUBI, in partnership with Celluloid Dreams, is currently acquiring the most important foreign, independent, and classic films from around the world to stream and download on demand. Celluloid Dreams and MUBI will also launch a European platform to make the world’s best cinema easily and instantly accessible online in Europe. Founded by Hengameh Panahi, Celluloid Dreams is one of the leading independent production, finance and sales companies.
We partnered with The Criterion Collection, long known for its high-quality editions of important classic and contemporary films, to develop Criterion’s online cinematheque. At Criterion, selections from the library of films and supplementary content that Criterion has been developing for 25 years will be continuously available on a paid basis. At MUBI, Criterion will program a continuing monthly series of free, advertiser-supported film festivals.
Costa Films is our strategic partner in acquiring and distributing films in Latin America. Costa Films will continue bringing strategic partners sharing our vision in the arts, film, and financial world to MUBI. An early backer of the venture, Costa also contributes to our curatorial line and is an on-going creative inspiration. Costa Films is a company founded by Eduardo Costantini, to produce and finance quality films in Latin America.
We partnered with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), based in London, to bring MUBI to your PS3. SCEE is responsible for the distribution, marketing and sales of PlayStation®3, PlayStation®2, PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) and PlayStation®Network software and hardware in 99 territories across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Oceania. Since the launch of PlayStation 3 in November 2006, over 38 million units have been sold globally and continue to be sold at a record level. With the huge increase in interest and accessibility of network applications and network gaming, over 51.1million accounts have registered to PlayStation Network, the free-to-access interactive environment, and over 980 million items have been downloaded.
