Every time I've read recently, Herzog's voice has been in my head.
The real "Most Interesting Man in the World".
[Talking about the painters from "Cave of the Forgotten Dreams"] Herzog: "I do believe that these really intelligent people invented god but it took god a while to grow up and create the world." [endless pause] Journalist: "ok, I don't usually have guests this deep". Watch this crazy interview here: bitchinfilmreviews.com/werner-herzog-on-the-colbert-report/
The best director of all time.
I'd say he's a pretty awesome director and doesn't afraid of anything
A genius and he still has the power to turn out great work
It excites me to know Herzog is out there, in some strange land, crafting something else that will open our eyes.
Especially poetic are his documentaries. I living genius.
Not only choking him but he has a machette in the other hand.
He's in it for like 5 seconds
What did Herzog have to do with "What dreams may come"?
Kinski's really choking him in this picture. Crazy...
This guy is the fricken man!
Your apparent indifference towards art may in fact be your means of transcending it.
The voice... the insanity... the legend. Herzog's fundamental imperfection is his ultimate genius.
How can he be up and coming he has been making films for decades...
While he is not the best of all filmmakers, what he does so well is that he brings such cynicism into his films, especially his documentaries, so that it's pretty much impossible not to be fascinated by his work, even if you don't like it. Best example of that would be his narration on Encounters at the End of the World.
He's not the greatest director, in my opinion, nor are his films the greatest of anything. But as an up and coming filmmaker, he is probably the most inspiring positive influence in the business.
Werner is a legend, and a great man.
The guy ate his shoe, how can't you love him, haha.
seconding stroszek and kaspar hauser... i planned to add the latter to my favorite films.
