perfect example of an avant-garde artist... when film became art, dance became film, silence became sound, and the consciousness and trance blurs it's boundary.
seems like a pretty conservative and definitive concept of art, maya.
Definetely an interesting person with a much different approach to cinema than most, but whether or not you like her work is a different matter.

Maya Deren is endlessly fascinating to me — from her incredible films to her research in Haitian voodoo to her (supposed) postmortem communications via ouija board. An incredible filmmaker and mind.
