Biography

Was born in Amritsar, India, graduated from University of New Delhi and emigrated to Canada in 1973. Based in Toronto she has earned international attention with her films. She is considered by many as one of the finest new directors on the horizon. With films such as the trilogy that consists of Fire (1996), Earth (1998), and Water (2005), she is quickly becoming the voice of a new India.

Deepa mehta ji.... is so original and no one knows about the attributes of her which makes herself stands alone among the crowd in this world. She is like my Mother and i think there are no words to describe her.. she is a Diamond..., whose shine show me the path to walk forward. She is the God of creativity... she is like my Saraswati maa.... i love her and her creations... May God bless her.. i am dying to meet her....God. tc
