Why do people think he's a great director ? he just makes pastiches. His direction is flat. He's Ridley Scott minus the talent.
he makes such wildly different films in so many genres, got to love his willingness to try different things.
yes, Slumdog is wonderful. Trainspotting is excellent. etc etc. But where is the brilliant 'Shallow Grave'!!??!
The Danny Boyle quote perfectly sums up his greatest strength: he has a chameleon-like ability to adapt to vastly different genres, but instead of emulating them, he reinvents them and makes them his own. I admire anyone who continually challenges himself by going outside his comfort zone and trying something completely new every time.
"Millions" is a great film with a good story and good acting, "Slumdog Millionaire has some of the best cinematography I've seen in a while, great acting, and compelling story. Combine to make a great film.
A brilliant filmmaker. His strengths: Original stories, good casting, and great cinematography. His weaknesses: His ability to make an ending to live up to the rest of the film
