Sirk was German too :)
I started with The American Soldier, which was perplexing, yet fascinating enough to press on, although my favorite remains Chinese Roulette. Personally, I believe that film is the most blatant showcase of Fassbinder's allure.
I don't think abant-guard type movie archive only made by director like Keneath Anger. In conclusion, I have some affection to Fassbinder.
I get a 3 months subscription and none of his films are available to watch in Australia. FUCK! I really want to see one of his films!
apparently he was writing a script about rosa luxemburg with jane fonda (!) in the title role...just imagine how amazing that would've been
"Everyone must decide for himself whether it is better to have a brief but more intensely felt existence or to live a long and ordinary life." —R.W. Fassbinder
Just saw and loved Ali: Fear Eats the Soul, and I'd like to see more of Fassbinder's films. Where is a good place to start?
Where are the early films? Love is Colder than Death & the American Soldier especially, these are probably my two favorite Fassbinders!
