Best known to English-speaking audiences as the assassin in Ron Howard’s Angels and Demons, Nikolaj is a prominent Danish actor who has won nine film awards for his performances in several films. He first appeared on the silver screen in The Boys from Sct. Petri in 1991 earning him two Danish film prizes, a Bodil and a Robert for Best Supporting Actor.
He received a Bodil for Best Supporting Actor in Lars von Trier’s The Idiots (1998), a Robert for Best Actor in Truly Human (2001), and a Bodil and Robert for Best Supporting Actor in Open Hearts (2002). For Reconstruction (2003) and Brothers (2004) he was awarded a Zulu for Best Actor as well as a Special Jury Prize award at the Indianapolis International Film Festival for Brothers.
