Ikiru should be watched by everyone.
If you are a true Kurosawa fan, you'll have to watch this! http://youtu.be/cgLWrPE790Y
One of those untouchable filmmakers. One who truly embodies the meaning of the word "director" to me.
Teacher, guru, master, sensei, or whatever you call it. That's Akira Kurosawa for me.
Evidently there was once a Japanese man, who decided to make a couple of movies that he must have known would completely ruin my life, long before I was ever born.
does anyone if Dreams was relase on region 2 DVD in UK. I'm trying to get every Kurosawa film I can on DVD but it's not that easy
It started with Seven Samurai. Today he's one of my favorite directors. Every film of his is incredible.
Last year I received the Kurosawa box set of 25 films. The bought his other five movies and spent the rest of the winter watching his entire filmography in chronological order. One other the best experiences of my life.
Hard to pick just one Thomas, but I'd probably go with High and Low. Ikiru is also amazing.
AK's individualistic-collectivist approach in his films is of great interest to me. Happy 100th!
Yes, on what would have been his 100th,its great to think of what he gave us.But where is 'IKIRU',my favourite?
Why is Dersu Uzala missing from this list? I love every Kurosawa film I've seen, I own 16 of them on DVD, but Dersu Uzala is better than half the films on this list.
I think all of his films are great. I have yet to see Lower Depths, Tigers Tail and Dodesukaden. Cant' even find a VHS copy of Dodesukaden.
