I would very much like to sit down in an actual theater and see 'A Film By Charles Burnett' appear on screen again at some point. I saw To Sleep With Anger when it came out but didn't appreciate that such a thing may never happen again. Still, I'm glad his work is available in some form.
Milestone Film's DVD set of Killer of Sheep and My Brother's Wedding (as well as some great shorts - one went back to late 60's called Friends I believe; it was great and I wish Burnett had made that into a feature length film at that time, his ability to capture realistic portrayals of life was extraordinary even at that early date) is excellent and incrediblely overdue. Great filmmaker. The screenplay of To Sleep with Anger is literature. Do see Brother's Wedding. Insightful, truthful. Director's cut.
