His films made me realise just how far you can go with filmaking, showing life and relationships not in the typical fashion but in a bleak but realistic manner and observing it with great detail.

One of the best directors ever. I love Wild strawberries, Persona, The silence, Scenes from a marriage, Autumn sonata and many more. I am so happy that he is swedish.
His outlook on life seems to be overly (and unnecessarily) pessimistic. Guess that's what a devout, strictly hypocritical upbringing can do to someone.
I think he was one of the greatest writers ever in film. His prose screenplays are very good. Persona and The Touch were very interesting in prose form.
Of all the most respected "auteurs", this is the only one whose films I don't have any desire to watch.
Wow http://www.onoff.com/online/se/inet.nsf/vProd/001-5520444?opendocument&markID=30-10-25 But not included "Face to Face"... I want to see uncut version!!! (because I only saw 2 hours cut version in Japan).
wow martin! how great it is for someone to make your life better! movies for life! long live bergman!
Bergman is my favorite filmaker ever. I discovered him when I was about 18 and my love for him and his films grew bigger and bigger since then. No matter how long it goes without me seeing again one of his films, he's always there, ready to be rediscovered. The surprise is always there, the mystery, the depth, the genious of a true artist. This man definitely made my life better.
