Still my number one dude of oh. Why? He directed a little thing called Sunrise (wait for the thing...) A Song of Two Humans. Oh he was taken from us too too early. I wish I could see 4 Devils but some films, maybe, belong to Death and flames and not to us. Still, nowadays they are called Missing Films rather than lost films, so there is hope. A fool's hope, but hope nonetheless.
"The camera is the director's pencil. It should have the greatest possible mobility in order to record the most fleeting harmony of atmosphere. It is important that the mechanical factor should not stand between the spectator and the film." - F.W. Murnau
Often overlooked, he was a magician of cinema. One of the very best ever. His pictures not only touch my heart..... they move my soul
being afraid of lookig rare by posting twice in this wall, I agree, he is SUPERNATURAL
F.W.Murnau is TRULY MOST AMAZING DIRECTOR. Even, Murnau is SUPERNATURAL!
F.W. Murnau is one of the most influential directors of ALL time =). it's one of my top 3 or 4 directors of all time =). 2bad a good chunk of his films are lost in fires. i hope some film lovers have copies of them somewhere, so we can get at movies like the Four Devils, lost in the fire ='(.
Murnau's "Sunrise" is my most favorite movie to this day. So otherworldly and so captivating.
