You are lucky! I'm sure he is as beautiful a person as his movies are.
I understand that he's quite a fan of Pixar - but really, it's like when Kurosawa said he was a fan of the Star Wars films...
gimana nasib animasi jepang di mata dunia kalau nggak ada bapak ini???
Love the quote. Ghibli restored my love of moviefilms, and here's to hoping his son picks up the gauntlet after Earthsea.
A truly passionate and inspiring artist, the greatest of the great when it comes to animation. Each of his films is an adventure into a fantasy of bliss.
This is my actual grandfather. For real. This man is beyond sweet; it is the real proof that some men are made of sugar. Japan wins again.
Every time I see one of his films.More than any other director I feel that I'm ready for a very individual adventure singular to each film.
After taking a risk at Blockbuster with Ponyo, Miyazaki has become a fan-favorite in our family ever since.
“Modern life is so thin and shallow and fake. I look forward to when developers go bankrupt, Japan gets poorer and wild grasses take over.” Wow, harsh words.
I think you miss the point. Miyazaki is a postmodern romantic, idolizing nature and warmth. He's not simply being a misanthrope, yearning for apocalypse... I think he honestly feels like humankind would be better off living in a green world, even if our cities had to be washed away. He's just a dreamer.
