He was my favorite cinematographer, and that's not something I say because he's now dead. There are many far more eloquent people on this site who should write something on here, so I'll just say: look at the filmmakers he chose to work with: Fincher, Gus van Sant, Jonathan Glazer, Ridley Scott, Woody Allen, Noah Baumbach, Sofia Coppola. He loved great filmmakers. He didn't do a chipmunks movie or something- he worked on projects he was passionate about with filmmakers he respected. RIP Harris Savides.
It's one of those tragic things, you don't realize how much you appreciate someone until their gone. RIP.
After recently experiencing Criterion's excellent Blu-ray release of "The Game," it's a real shock to hear of Savides' tragic death. R.I.P. to a true master of his craft.
