a friend of mine worked as his teaching assistant for a little bit and i got to pass along some comments to him and everything i hear about the guy makes him seem incredibly intelligent and very good at what he does.

Funny story: I took a class on Schrader last semester, and the professor (critic Gerald Peary) had Schrader consult and revise the syllabus. Schrader said no requests, just one demand: remove "Hardcore", which he hated, and replace it with "Blue Collar"

It's about time Schrader is on here! What's with all the Scorsese movies listed above? Were's Light Sleeper, Hardcore, The Walker, Auto Focus? He deserves more credit for his directorial efforts and people need to stop viewing him merely as Scorsese's sidekick!
