ETERNAL SUNSHINE is fresh and funny, original and moving, a thrilling experience. It is, in fact, as good as Kaufman's other works are stale and boring, over-clever and reliant on gimmicks.

Because the majority of his work thus far consists of screenwriting.

One of the greatest. Not of any subject in particular, just greatest in general.

He did change a lot of the script and angered Kaufman greatly from what I understand. Gondry and Jonze always included kaufman greatly in the filmmaking process; Clooney, however, did not.

He's one of my favourites screenwriters. Among my favourite contemporary films are Eternal Sunshine, Synecdoche NY and Being John Malkovitch. Adaptation was really good too and Human Nature is definetely my least favourite. The only one I have left to see is Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. I know it's going to be deceiving. Anyone would encourage me to watch it? I doubt George Clooney can fuck up Kaufman's script that badly but he might.

My most favourite ever really. I thought nothing could be more complicated and screwed up as Being John Malkovich, but then I saw Adaptation. And then Synecdoche, New York outdid them all.

Charlie Kaufman is the best thing to happen to film in a long time. Every time I watch one of his scripts come to life I see at least one thing of my persona being reflected on the screen. It scares me, I learn something about myself from someone else it's almost wisdom being passed down. He is the one man who is actually open about insecurities and what its like to be human and projects it on film for everyone to see. This man is better than directors. He is an auteur if there ever was one.
