i love the stories he chooses for his films, Sade's "Salo" is perfect, Oedipus is perfect, Canterbury is perfect and everything else. such a tragic ending to a life though, dramatic.

I heared so many things about P. P. Pasolini but I havent seen any work of him yet. Because I (my state of mind)haven't ready for him yet. but still I'm gonna watch his works in my (appropriate) spare time as soon as possible.

Well, it's not like Salo is the only thing he has done. Not all of his characters are mentally sick. Take Terence Stamp in Teorema for example, a destructive force yes but one that yields a much more natural process to take its course in the lives of a wealthy and dull family. Maybe not a savior but more of an arbitrary entropy of the order of their time, whose time has long come and gone yet still remains even today.

I feel this world would have been much better off if it was Steven Spielberg who was brutally murdered in 1975 instead of Pier Paolo Pasolini. A true artist, your death is made more lamentable in light of the work you left behind.

I watched about 15 seconds of the Salò video on THE AUTEURS, and tuned out. I can't bring myself to watch it... so horrific.

All controversy aside. Pasolini, unlike any other, brought a visual poetry to cinema. The fact that storyline was not his strength goes unnoticed, for his films aim for something deeper. They call out and stir the unconscious, unspeakable, undefinable recesses of the human psyche.

The Mythic Quartet is astounding. Oedipus Rex, Teorema, Porcile, Medea. Better than the Trilogy of Life?
