One of my favorite moments in movies, "I'm a fucking idiot, I'm a fucking idiot..."
One of the greatest living American actors. To say that Hoffmann is overrated when most filmgoers don't even know his name is absurd. Synecdoche, New York is the spellbinding flawless masterpiece that it is because of his performance, which it hinges it's entire existence on. He'salso amazing in Paul Thomas Anderson's films, Doubt, Capote, it goes on.
I discovered Mr. Hoffman in a little film called Love Liza and have followed his career ever since. His work in Capote is breath taking, sharp, calculated and such an amazing transformation. If you haven't seen him in the underrated and often overlooked film Flawless with Robert De Niro, you're in for a treat. He brings something to every role, makes it his own, takes ownership clearly and with purpose and passion.
