Born in 1972 in Interlaken, Bettina Oberli studied film at ZHdK in Zurich. Her graduation film Supernova won the Suissimage Prix de la relève. She subsequently worked in New York as an assistant set designer for Steve Buscemi on a Lou Reed music video, and for Hal Hartley on Henry Fool (1997). Her first feature film Im Nordwind (2004)was screened at numerous festivals and won many prizes. In 2006, Late Bloomers played for a whole year in Swiss cinemas and represented Switzerland at the Academy Awards. In 2008, Bettina Oberli directed the film adaptation of the novel Tannöd by A.
