Alex Proyas

Director

“I like science fiction as a genre, and to me, I like basing my films in the real world in terms of being scientifically plausible.”

Biography

Alex Proyas is an innovative and versatile filmmaker, with a penchant for large-scale science fiction productions. Maintaining prolific careers in both commercials and feature films, Proyas often uses the smaller venue as a testing ground for his big screen imagination, an inspired move that has rendered him a master of visual imagery.

Great director. "Dark City" is a very influential film. "I, Robot" is a good sci-fi actioner with a few profound themes (someone called it "A.I. Artifical Inteligence" for the blockbuster generation). "Knowing" is a underrated work, specially because of the ending. I actually liked it very much, for it elicits an atmosphere of dread and tension. As usual the visuals are great.

I must say, although it probably goes without saying on here, "I, Robot" was a real misstep for this guy.
