If Bancroft had the right material, she was fantastic. I loved her in "The Graduate," "The Miracle Worker," and "The Pumpkin Eater" especially. She was so witty and sexy and smart. And she was Mrs. Mel Brooks besides. Bancroft is supposed to have said when she heard him arrive at home at night, after work, "Ah, the party is starting!"

She directed a film named Fatso in 1980. LOL. She directs! How wonderful.
