Born in Ghana in 1940, King Ampaw studied at the Academy of Music and Arts in Vienna and at the Academy of Film and Television in Munich. Subsequently, he worked as director of photography on several film productions, both in Germany and throughout Europe. He then returned to Ghana and worked as a senior director- for national television. In 1983 he founded his own production company and directed some prominent feature films such as “Kukurantumi, 1983” and “Nana Akato, 1985”.
