Fumi Nikaido is a Japanese actress and fashion model currently signed with Sony Music Artists.
Nikaido had been a regular in teen fashion magazines before making her acting debut with a prominent supporting role in Koji Yakusho’s 2009 directorial debut, Toad’s Oil.
She quickly made a name for herself as a film actress by winning the Marcello Mastroianni Award (best newcomer) at the 68th Venice International Film Festival for her performance in Shion Sono’s Himizu. Her co-star in the film, Shota Sometani, also won the award.—Nippon Cinema
