During her career, Kinuyo Tanaka also directed 4 films, 2 of them I found very powerful, somewhat furious, in expressing the "voice" of woman as the total author of the films. Those films should be here too.

The return of the potter to his house in "Ugetsu" and the heart-pulverising finale to "Sansho Dayu": Tanaka was in perhaps the two greatest scenes in all cinema. Not my favourite actress, but judgments on acting skill are nothing compared to the claim to immortality.
