Lars Rudolph was born in 1966 as the second son of a Captain in the marines. He has two other brothers. In his youth he lived in the harbour cities of West Germany such as Cuxhaven, Wilhelmshaven, Kappeln and Kiel. After school he studied music as a trumpet player (mainly Jazz) and moved to New York in the late 80s to play with avantgarde musicians around the circle of John Zorn. In 1994 he was asked by Christoph Schlingensief to join a theatre group at the Volksbühne Berlin and this is how he became interested in acting. His career was fast and he won numerous film awards for his first films with Bela Tarr, Tom Tykwer and Oskar Röhler. —larsrudolph.wordpress.com
