Biography

Nina Proll, born January 12, 1974, in Vienna, attended actor’s training at the age of 16 and took singing and dancing lessons. After finishing her Matura, Proll went to “Performing Arts Studios” at Vereinigte Bühnen Wien and performed in musicals like “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Sweet Charity” and, in the leading role as Sally Bowles, in “Cabaret”. She played her first movie parts in 1995 in Xaver Schwarzenberger’s TV movies “Lovers” and “Das Kapital” (The Capital) and in Wolfgang Murnberger’s “Auf Teufel komm raus” (Come Heaven or Hell). Her break-through performance Proll made in the Austrian comedy “Hinterholz 8” (1998).

After playing supporting parts in Barbara Albert’s films “Sonnenflecken” and “Slidin’ – Alles bunt und wunderbar” (Slidin’: All Bright and Wonderful), Proll played the leading role of Jasmin in Albert’s drama “Nordrand” (Northern Skirts, 1999) which won her the Marcello Mastroianni award for “Best Young Actress” at the 56th Venice film festival.
