Wang Bing

Director

“Every film is a hard and painful process, and very tiring and difficult. And even when it’s finished, I never really feel, “This is great, I’m happy and satisfied.” With "West of the Tracks", I never felt great satisfaction when I was done. The hard truth is that for me it’s very hard to actually get a feeling of relief and satisfaction from completing a film.”

Is there anybody who can point me to a torrent, stream or really anything of Wang Bing's? I'm most anxious to see Tie Xi Qu, but I'd settle for any of his work.

Well, I now know that you can order Tie Xi Qu from Germany for like 40 euros. But I did see Three Sisters at the Vancouver International Film Festival, which was pretty incredible.

'Tie Xi Qu' was available in its entirety on YT for quite some time, but alas... I'm certainly looking forward to Wang's latest.

The Ditch was incredible.

The surprise Film at Venice Film Festival happened to be the first fiction by Wang Bing.English title is The ditch. What a great movie! I was afraid Wang Bing would loose all his unaffected and subtle "regard" in the transition from documentary to fiction but I was mistaken. The film is great without showing. It is a sure, straight path through the slow resignation to death of his characters. And there are no protagonist so that humanity is the real character portrayed here. Prepare to watch the most incredible use of darkness on screen i've seen in ages. At the same time I'm reaslly impress by the complete absence of all the rethoric of realism. He is a true metteur en scene.
