I can't believe he exists. Today, I saw MAGNOLIA for my 16th time. It made me feel (again, for the 16th time) everything a human being could feel... and just in a few hours. I just can't believe he exists. But he does, and I'm an alive witness of his time, his work and his miraculous deliverance in filmmaking (life itself). He's a fucking miracle. DAMN, PAUL! :D
Some of the best films can come from the most lacking of novels... Point Blank, The Long Goodbye,... Do I really need to give more e.g.? Just research for yourself...
guh, the one Pynchon novel he picks to adapt is the lamest one.

Hoisted by your awesome petard
A modern visionary that is one of the few in Hollywood who is not afraid to take risks. He keeps the cinema of Altman alive with his own unique vision.
on the most talented and promising directors of modern cinema. It's just a shame that he doesn't shoot more films.
My favorite thing about PTA is that he directs emotions not intellect. He shows that despite the narcotics of modern society we still feel and those feelings still matter.
Okay. I can handle if short films are added. Music videos? I'm on the fence about that. But his cameo in Minority Report warrants the addition of that film? No way.
The best director working today. Scorsese is good but at this current moment PTA is my favorite working director. He is this generations Stanley Kubrick/Robert Altman but the part of Altman that made Short Cuts and Nashville. He's an amazing director and writer.
Can't believe they put his music videos up as well...
A Master, the greatest artist living maybe... he has changed my life!
THE best living film maker in my eyes, all 5 of his films blew me away. Magnolia is still my favorite though
he continues to blow my mind with every film that comes out. I easily connect emotionally with all of his dang movies.
The way 'There Will Be Blood' was shot and the performance that PTA was able elicit from Daniel Day-Lewis truly changed my life. It was that day after I saw that film that I knew I wanted to be a filmmaker, that my primary goal in life is to achieve an artistic expression somewhat close, even moderately representative, of what PTA has achieved in his various masterpieces. // I need not mention how great 'Magnolia' and 'Boogie Nights' are as well... 'Boogie Nights' is also one of my favorite films and in my mind, stands as one of the most iconic masterpieces of the 20th century speaking timelessly to a generation, lost in its hopeless indulgences. Truly wonderful work.
Probably the best American director at the moment. Seeing Magnolia tomorrow and I'm almost giddy.
Rebel with a cause ... xx
Along with Apichatpong Weerasethakul, one of the two greatest cinema geniuses of the newer generation of filmmakers. I believe both will one day be ranked with the best.
not a fan of magnolia, but punch-drunk and blood will always be two of my favorites. the man is definitely a genius.
As I've said before, he's the Kubrick of this generation, so it means he's one one of the best directors in the world currently. And could become the best.
Good so far... Now what's next?
PTA has the potential to become the greatest director of all time. He's not even 40 yet and he's already got one masterpiece under his belt.
the best living director.
