Kurosawa´s Dodes´ka-den caught my eye ! It was poorly received, but to assign it to another director is no solution !
In answer to your second question, my guess is they listed him because he was one of the executive producers of the film. As you may know, Kurosawa was facing a tough time in his life (he also got fired from Fox to direct Tora Tora Tora) and had trouble getting financial backing for his new projects, so he got in touch with the most preeminent directors in Japan. Their artistic guild was called Club of the Four Knights, which included Masaki Kobayashi, Keisuke Kinoshita and Kon Ichikawa. It was their first and last film production.
How come his greatest masterpiece The Human Condition is not listed on TheAuteurs? And why is Kurosawa´s Dodes´ka-den shown as one of his films?
