Derrin Schlesinger

Derrin Schlesinger works within the UK film and television industry as an independent producer. After setting up and jointly running a music videos production company, she turned her focus to TV comedies and during the noughties produced award-winning comedy series, such as Channel 4’s The Book Group and the IT Crowd, as well as collaborating with Chris Morris on Nathan Barley. The programmes went on to collect a number of awards, including winning a Scottish BAFTA and Indie Award for The Book Group , and nominations for Best Sitcom at the TV BAFTAs for both IT Crowd and The Book Group. IT Crowd was also nominated for a Royal Television Society Award and a Golden Rose Award.

In 2009 Derrin produced Chris Morris’ first feature, Four Lions. As well as achieving UK box office success, and worldwide distribution, the film premiered at Sundance, and won the Los Angeles Film Festival Best Narrative Feature audience award and the Independent Camera Award at Karlovy Vary.

She has since series-produced Shane Meadows’ acclaimed This is England ’86 for Channel 4. —The Script Factory
