new fave quote: “I know I will die with either a camera in hand or a woman on top – what more could one ask of life?”
When it comes to cinematography, no one does it like Doyle. I must look like a strange, gaping fish while watching his work, jaw unhinging in awe and wonder at almost every shot. I mean, this is the stuff standing ovations were made for, folks. Breathtaking is an understatement, especially when he's paired with Wong Kar Wai, and though I seek eloquence and not obscenity, sometimes I can't help but utter a "holy sh**!" at what I'm seeing on the screen, so achingly beautiful. If I was going to write a fan letter to anyone in film, I think he'd be it. Bravo, Doyle.
I adore Doyle as a cinematographer (especially his collaborations with Wong Kar Wai.Very breathtaking!). But not yet as a director since I haven't seen his works yet (except for his short in Paris, Je T'aime which is very quirky and I really love it!) What a shame. I think I should start watching him more from now :D
It is interesting to watch Doyle’s work as it considered every movement beforehand so as to result in cinematography as close to perfection as you can get, where every shot is immaculately framed.
my fav. DP/ filmmaker of all time. Doyle has an amazing character. he deserves to make more film than many other who are out there with more money directing writing shit films. away with words tells it all to me...
Best Visual Artist of our times! I am totally addicted to anything he shoots... What an extra-ordinary artist!
