Martina Gedeck [ɡəˈdɛk] (born 14 September 1961) is a German actress. She came to international fame as the main character in the German films Mostly Martha and The Lives of Others. She has won numerous awards, including the Deutscher Filmpreis (German Film Award) in both 1997 and 2002.
Martina Gedeck was born in Munich, and moved to West Berlin during her early childhood, where her father was a businessman. After spending a year in the U.S.A., she studied drama at the prestigious Max-Reinhardt-Seminar at the Berlin University of the Arts. She currently resides in Berlin.
