it's ludicrous.
It's a pain in the ass that Netflix doesn't have either Pather Panchali nor The World of Apu, the two I'm most curious about.
Satyajit Ray has become one of my 10 favorite filmmakers. I can't wait till we actually start having a chance to see his films in Region 1. Or at the very least get MUBI to put some up.
You know what would be cool? If maybe just ONE of his fucking movies could be released on Region 1 dvd. Because I would really love to see his films, but as a college student I can't afford to import, and my school polices downloads, so I cannot fucking watch any of his films. I would love to, but I can't fucking do it. Fuck.
Its a pity that the Mubi database doesn't have my personal favourite among all the Ray films - Parash Pathar (The Philosopher's Stone). Its also a pity that Ray never went down that road again!
I can't understand why someone as profilic as Satyajit Ray should be ignored like this if a mediocre Hollywood film can gain more attention.
