It must be challenging to have such incredible talent only to see it fade, overlooked because age creeps in and lesser filmmakers fumble not knowing how to work with her instead of work at her. You can't tell an actor what to do, you have to learn how to speak to one another at a level that reaches the gut strands, strums a tune and makes music others don't really understand. It's at that moment, that collision where the art fuels, burns white hot and becomes something palpable, emotional and memorable. Actors don't act they live. The sooner we realize that the more we can do with it. That might be filmmaker centric but it's true. As audience, we could learn a thing about our screen icons and know when to buy a ticket, support a cause and maybe the next time we'll get a better performance, a stronger film or something tangible in air. Stone makes it all too easy and that's when the barking dogs circle and get in the way of the next big thing.
