Synopsis

An aging filmmaker struggles to adapt to a new mode of cinematic production—his favored genre is pornography. He’s hoping to reconnect with his estranged son, while also completing his erotic masterpiece, despite the interventions of a crude producer. However, he seems unable to achieve either.

Our take

One of our favorite actors, the legendary New Wave icon Jean-Pierre Léaud, teamed up with Bertrand Bonello and delivered one of his best late-career performances, wowing as an aging pornographer with echoes of his role in Irma Vep. The Pornographer won the Critics Prize at Cannes.
