Lynch’s greatest movie yet? It certainly is refreshing to see a great heart-warming story which actually makes sense for a change. Farnsworth is brilliant, great photography and a story that really grips. (Much as I love Mullholand Drive etc, I sometimes think that Lynch is just taking the piss and doesnt really know what is happening either, ie. Cult movie style). Straight Story is not exactly straight though, it features some trademark Lynch moments, oblique angles, sweeping camera moves, haunting sound/music and slightly mysterious characters – real Blue Velvet territory. superb.
