Unfortunately not everything in this film is perfect. Modern actors are superimposed into found footage ala Forest Gump, but it just looks shoddy. The actors tend to gaze at the camera ala Jim from NBC’s The Office. (Maybe this is intentional. Perhaps Kustirica is commenting on Tito’s tendency to write his own history). At the halfway point the soundtrack molts from being a clever diagetic device to a nauseating bore. None of these quibbles is meant to deter people from Underground. I’ve seen it twice, and would watch it again in the proper company.
