Carlos Conceição was born in Angola, 1979. He took a degree in English with a specialization in Anglo-Saxon literature and Romanticism and wrote a dissertation about the manifestations of cruelty throughout the work of Edgar Allan Poe (2002). Carlos then majored in Film Directing at Lisbon’s film school (2006) and started working as a video artist, making music videos as well as fiction short films and installations, while he worked with veteran filmmakers like João Pedro Rodrigues and José Fonseca e Costa. He has also attended master-classes with Roger Corman, Fernando Trueba, Michael Cimino, David Cronenberg, Stephen Frears and the “Story” seminar with Robert McKee. In 2010, his short-film “The Flesh” won the New Talent Fnac Award at IndieLisboa. —Blackmaria Prod.
