Synopsis

Real-life father and son Gérard Depardieu and Guillaume Depardieu star in this almost too-close-for-comfort drama about fame and family dysfunctionalism. Paul (Guillaume) is a menacing yet sympathetic twenty-something drifer who has lived his life in the shadows of celebrated novelist Leo (Gérard), his emotionally and communicatively distant father. Leo wins the Nobel Prize and takes off to Stockholm on his motorcycle. In an attempt to contact his father after the good news by catching up with him on the road, Paul is once again rejected. He stalks his dad and after an accident, the son takes advantage of a dazed Leo to abduct him. Now, tied down and essentially kidnapped, the two, trapped with each other as they travel the European countryside, begin to talk. A Loving Father traces the complexities of family dynamics which are brilliantly illustrated in this fast-paced, at times bitterly funny tale. –TLA Releasing
