On par with "Close-up" (!) – the very best of self-reflexive cinema as a link between passion in politics and humanism in history.

Given a choice to relive your life via cinema, would you change it? One of the greatest ending freeze-frames in film. [One more example to support my theory that Iranian Cinema is the greatest! :-D]

My first encounter with Makhmalbaf, and I found this film to be a beautiful, meditative, human, and even humorous piece of work. It's about two men who after so many years try to come to terms with an event that changed both their lives through the cinema. All of the subjects are so well drawn, and the blending of documentary and fiction is so well done here. This is one of the great films of the nineties. Amazing.
