Lawson Russell (Gooding) is a Louisiana criminal lawyer who gets disbarred for committing a mistrial. After that, he retires to Key West and decides to write a book about his experience. While working on it, he meets an old man who lets him read his manuscript. However, the old man spontaneously dies, and Russell decides to pass the book as his. The book ends up becoming a huge success, but Russell gets arrested for the real murders of five lawyers mentioned in “his” book. He then finds himself trying to prove his innocence. —wikipedia
