I haven’t seen many silent films, but this movie seems unique even compared to some contemporary films. A Page of madness starts off with a very creepy and impressive montage of the various inhabitants of the asylum and how screwed up they are. From the room number that constantly changes to the insane dancer, the imagery is chilling. The bulk of the film revolves around the volunteer and his attempts to console his insane wife, all told without a single title-board. And as short as it was, the mask scene sent shivers down my spine.
