I don't mean to sound like I have a lot of opinions or anything, but the score in this film is one of the greatest in modern filmmaking and you would take care to listen to it again if you have doubts.
Absolutely brilliant. Its very rare I can't find fault in a movie so this was a pleasant surprise.
The cinematography is absolutely stunning. It's paced a bit slow, and by the middle of the film I predicted how it was going to end. Still, I would re-watch it over and over again. Such a beautiful film.
I thought the first half of this film was pitch perfect. Full of beauty and meaning. Colin Firth was excellent and moved me deeply. Then the last half seemed to sort of implode upon itself into a simple easy ending. Be looking into any further pictures from mister Ford though I sure.
Impressive - especially for a first time director. Deep, nuanced performances; assured pacing; confidently composed shots. I'm ambivalent about the ending - not a bad choice at all, but perhaps not the most challenging choice. This would be a great 60s flashback double featured paired with "An Education".

Firth is fantastic in his Oscar worthy performance. The film, from beginning to end, masterfully lets the audience feel the struggles George is experiencing. Highly recommended.
Tom Ford, honey, you're not Wong Kar-Wai. Give him back his composer and stop trying to do slow motion. Pretty, good acting, but also, yawn.

A subtle recreation of the past memory and loneliness. Colin Firth's character has a powerful effect on me. His character is really absorbing and powerfully acted. Nicholas Hoult is also absolutely mesmerizing in this. The story might not be too appealing for the major audience, but imo this is a fairly sensitive subject. Maybe a tad too slow in pacing, but as the result, I felt really involved throughout the film. Very elegant and stylish on technical aspects, unexpectedly surprised by the first direction of Tom Ford who is more well-known as a fashion designer. This film combines substance with style delicately.
A movie with such aesthetic beauty, you almost get over-whelmed by its cinematography, music and its screenplay. Tom Ford allows you to feel George Falconer's sorrow, it becomes more tragic as it gets closer to the end. Colin Firth makes a powerful performance, Jullianne Moore also makes a stand out performance along with the supporting cast. It almost became a perfect movie, almost!
Not really a very good film, when you get down to it. It plays more like an imitation of films that have explored similar territory, and explored it better (Ford certainly cribs a lot from Kar-Wai Wong). There are occasional moments of great beauty, but, alas, not enough to save the film.
Through its opening, the film has all criteria of a so-called "modern film". But the tighten focus on pseudo-romantic relationship between Falconer and Charley turned the film down. Despite it's intense framing, Falconer is just in an usual search of himself.
Tom Ford makes a beautiful film debut. Is a sensitive film, beautiful and has a special care in choosing the cast (all sensational), something I respect a lot. Fill your eyes with tears, and beauty. Bring on more Ford films!
