This is such a lovely and fun film to watch. Godard on his best. "On ne sait pas si c'est une comédie ou une tragédie mais en tout cas c'est un chef-d'œuvre"

This is the sweetest film by Godard. Jean-Paul Belmondo is pure sugar and Anna Karina is prettier than ever before.

Though this film was one of the least-successful of the New Wave films when it was first released, this stands, to me, as one of the best of Godard's early films, grabbing onto the viewer from the very beginning. Additional power comes from the music and the way that the music is mixed with the live soundtrack, with the music stopping dead when people talk, or the music serving as an exclamation point to the scene

I really enjoyed this movie, but on a much different level than how I enjoy Godard's other films. More than any other JLG, this one made me smile, and even laugh out loud a couple of times, but when up against his other works, I'd have to admit it was a bit of a lesser JLG for me. Cute, whimsical, tons of fun to watch, but this is the first time I haven't felt a need to rewatch immediately. This is my 23rd JLG film.

Wow, who'd have thought it?! A Godard film I enjoyed rather than endured. In fact, I thought it was terrific. A wonderful showcase for the talents and charms of the delightful Mrs. Godard, Anna Karina. She's superb as the stripper who longs for a baby with her lover. He won't give her one (so to speak..) so maybe Belmondo could be an option? The story is wafer-thin but the playful, colourful treatment is exquisite...

Did Godard watch me from afar for my entire life, use a time machine, and go back 1960 to write and direct this film specifically for me? I wouldn't be surprised! Breathless got me interested, now I'm obsessed.

Great fun, loved it. Belmondo having to go home and see Breathless on tv made me smile :)

Everything is charming in this film! The editing is very bold and the use of color is masterful. Brilliant execution, tons of experimentation, and it's very funny. This is one of my favorite godards so far!
