Joaquim Leitão directs this drama about a unique love triangle with a baby at the center. Aching to have a child, bisexual television reporter Catarina (Maria de Medeiros) goes behind her girlfriend’s (Ana Bustorff) back and successfully dupes a young, unsuspecting doctor into impregnating her. Complicating matters even more, Catarina falls for a fellow male reporter who has no idea that she is pregnant. Joaquim de Almeida co-stars.
Joaquim Leitão, ComIH, OM (born 1956) is a Portuguese film director. He won two Golden Globe Awards, in 1996 for Adão e Eva and in 1998 for Tentação.
Life
He studied law at the University of Lisbon, but changed to directing films. In the 1980s, he directed several short films and music videos. In 1994, he wrote Uma Cidade Qualquer with the European Capital of Culture. He followed this with Adão e Eva (1995), whose cast included Joaquim de Almeida and Maria de Medeiros in the roles of two commercial television media figures. He received the Golden Globe: Best Picture and Best Director, and with Tentação (Temptation) (1997), one of the biggest commercial successes of the Portuguese cinema. Then, he directed Inferno (Hell) (1999), the series Until Tomorrow Comrades (2005), adapted from the work of the same name by Álvaro Cunhal, and 20,13 Purgatório (Purgatory) (2006).

The Isolda line alone would be enough to make this an amazing film. Luckily, there's plenty more to it. If even the unlikely Iñárritu-ish ending couldn't make me dislike it, it's because it's got a hell of a script and a superb cast.
