Inviting and magical, Alice In Wonderland is an imaginative new twist on one of the most beloved stories of all time. A complete misread of Carroll's masterpiece, this Burton nightmare is at no time ever close to successful. Grotesque to look at, abysmally performed - Hathaway and Wasikowska come close to succeeding - and above all annoyingly shallow, this is a prime example of disaster. Burton needs to move on from his muse - Depp - and away from his working relationship with Carter to reestablish what made his work so great.
Anne Hathaway casually out-quirkied Johnny Depp who was mostly retreading and reusing old mannerisms and Crispin Glover who was handicapped by his costume. Mia Wasikowska held her own as Alice against the heavy weight stars. Visually, the movie looked good but didn't break any new ground. I was actually most impressed by the slowly growing mushrooms and vines framing the end credits. Lovely.

Burton’s Alice is not the grusome garbage some says it is, but it’s definitely not a good film – I’ll say it’s mediocre.
