Synopsis

Imagine a zany cross between Some Like It Hot and The Guns of Navarone and you have one riotous action comedy. In 1944, with most German men on the front lines, factories of the Fatherland are staffed by women. British intelligence decides to conduct espionage behind enemy lines by getting some of its agents to dress up as women. Enter Eddie Izzard (HBO’s Dress to Kill), playing a British drag performer who’s recruited to turn Matt LeBlanc (Friends) and a few other decidedly masculine soldiers into women. Their task is to invade an Enigma factory outside Berlin, “manned” only by women, and bring back the decoding device that will end the war. Can these parachuting lovelies handle the enemy and high heels? Find out in this delightful picture that features marvelous comedic turns by Edward Fox and Udo Kier, a gay and a straight love story, and frocks that have happily gone out of style. –Outfest
