beautiful costumes, a charming laugh from Mozart, an occasional hilarious scene and Berridge's chest in everyone's face (and of course beautiful music) is all I could really find in this film. I think it was really drawn out, which is understandable I suppose, but it just wasn't for me.
Music History, lush cinematography, top notch performances, universal truths explored and some dick & fart jokes thrown in for good measure. A classic. (side note: Brilliantly parodied on Mr. Show with dueling marching band composers.)
Uproariously funny, with a good bit of drama thrown in, Amadeus is a terrific exploration of rivalries-gone-awry. Abraham and Hulce are a marvel to watch.
A strong and flamboyant movie! I think it's a perfect way to do a biography–through the eyes and mouth of the jealous friend. This way Mozart can be misunderstood and misinterpreted, remaining as a mystery, flooded with 'the voice of God'. Hulce is like Billy the kid, he dodged a bullet and went into hiding.
One of the most visually gorgeous films of all time and one of the greatest screen performances of all time from F. Murray Abraham. In addition to that, the entire cast is incredible, it's story and characters are deeply involving, and it is just simply an extremely entertaining movie. A masterpiece.
A Friend told me that it's all about the first hour , but I've to say it's all about the 15 mins ! WonderFul !
A masterpiece! I have already watched it, but i want to review. An unforgettable experience in cinematography.
It's hard to watch pieces that portray this period after Barry Lyndon. Forman approaches the same stylistic characteristics that Kubrick shows reverence for, with a combination of facetiousness and absurdity. Kubrick just does it better. Forman should have focused on character idiosyncrasies more and not worried so much about the presentation.
