Oxford College classics professor Francis Ashby’s (Michael Palin) life will never be the same after he meets lovely American Caroline (Connie Booth) and her adopted daughter, Elinor (Trini Alvarado), on a Swiss vacation — and both women fall for him. The two soon show up unannounced at Oxford, wreaking havoc on Ashby’s plans to become the next college president over rival Oliver Syme (Alfred Molina).
