Simply put: Karma bites. A sharp film on life and the consequences of our actions.
My favorite translation of the title would be 'You Love Dogs'. Works the best for me.
me throughout the whole film: no no why would you do that nooo
There's not much else to say about this great movie... But apart from performances, story, script... Did you pay attention to the blockings? So complex, so fluid, so well done people stay completely unaware of them. Such a great planning and execution (mostly during the first third of the movie). Way less in your face than "Children of Men", but even more effective.
excellent. my favorite Inarritu film.
Excelent movie, from the story to the way it's filmed. I will have to disagree with Lefteris Becerra's pretentious review over this film.
This movie has such amazing energy. It blew my mind in the most wonderful of ways. Definitely my favorite Inarritu.
amazing. inarritu's best movie for sure.
Inarritu cannot make bad movies
možda mi najbolji fim ikad!!!!
Amazing film! Gave me nightmares about dogs though, lol
best movie of A.I.G .
beautiful , powerful , prefect and a masterpiece !
just watched it...and love it! Never saw a movie with this intensity.
this movie so good it is near to perfect i loved this film
i bought this movie on a total impulse. ive never heard of it and the only thing that drove me to it was gael garcia bernal, but this is probably in the top five movies ive seen in the spanish language. the cinemotography and the story were enthralling. it's ballsy way of telling life like it is in mexico city is ruthless but very accurate to what, i imagine, is real
It is frightening to see violence and ruthlessness incorporated into everyday situations like that, to see the characters wander around in a mean world where chances of improvement seem unlikely, and in the end, it is up to the animals to remind them of what humanity is all about. Cruel and uncompromising yet very intriguing storytelling.
It certainly is emotionally manipulative, but it does it's job so damn well.
I hated the second sequence. Oh WAHHHHH I'm a model with problems!!!! Shut up.
"The Mexican Pulp Fiction." I've met lots of people that think anything made by "trashy, dirty Mexicans" ain't worth a damn because of their Third World standard of living and stereotypical roles in American society. Even though this film incorporates exactly these elements, to me the director was well able to take them as they were and create some excellent, emotionally evocative filmography.
A simplistic, banal ensemble of stories masqueraded as high brow cinema. Intellectually dishonest, if not overtly idiotic.
although I am appalled at the amount of animal cruelty in this film, i am pleased to see such honest representation of dog fighting. The film did a wonderful job of being unbiased and just showing it for how shitty and dark the world is.
The third story was a bit weak compared to the first two, but what we have here is relentless and gripping cinema. Well shot and passionate, there wasn't a dull moment in the 150 minute run time.
Brutal...just brutal. The grittiness isn't all bad, but I think it distracts from a bit of a simplistic plot that doesn't offer all that much commentary. Dunno, it felt a little pointless to me. Maybe I'm missing something.
I wonder how this has shaped perceptions of Mexico and Mexico City? Even the richer model/magazine editor story wasn't pleasant. My brother and his wife raved about a recent trip there, though.
