The point is: American Werewolf in London is without question the best example of a perfectly executed monster movie. John Landis manages to blend comedy, romance, and horror in a splendid and intriguing manor. He combines the over-the-top monster movies of years past, with their gothic setting and atmosphere, with the gritty and realistic modern horror films. Rick Baker creates an ensemble of monstrosities to bring a wide grin to any horror fan’s face; decomposing corpses, murderous Nazi demons, and the scariest lycanthrope to roam god’s green earth. American Werewolf is one of, if not the, greatest monster movie of all time, and among my favorite and most cherished movies of all time. ★★★★★ out of 5.

Can't get over how amazing the werewolf transformation scene is and this came out 30 years ago. Pretty great horror film with some good laughs and gore galore.

Kept me entertained, and the werewolf changes even impressed me, but the acting was meh. A very good film. Not a great, or a brilliant film. But entertaining, nonetheless.

David tries to shut his eyes when he is confronted with the beast within. He knows that only death can be his and others' salvation, but as usual human cowardice wins out. It's not quite an allegory, but it's certainly more clever than the average horror film or comedy film or horror-comedy film.

De cultazo. Divertida e irreverente, esta cinta es uno de los clasicos del cine de los ochenta y la obra maestra de Landis. Inolvidable la chispa comica entre Dunne y Naughton y la cachondez de Jenny Agutter. A casi 30 años de su realizaciòn, los efectos especiales de maquillaje creados por Rick Backer no han podido ser superados. La escena de la transformaciòn en hombre lobo es de antologia en la historia del cine.
